SALTICAE Fabulae
inter opera Lucani, memorantur Auctori veteri Vitae Lucani, Exstant eius et alii libri complures. Ut Iliacon, Saturnalia, Catascomon, Silvarum X. Tragoedia Medea imperfecta. Salticae Fabulae XIV. etc. dictae sunt, quae taliter erant factae, ut coram populo saltari possent, h. e. non minus gestibus, quam voce, exprimi: quibus Scenicae forte oppositae, quarum apud A. Gellium mentio. Ita saltabantur res gestae Bacchi primum, dein ab eo aliorum Heroum, a Tragoedis, Comoedis et grege Tibicinum, qui pariter οἱ περὶ τὸν Διόνυ???ον τεχνῖται appellabantur, ut notatum eidem A. Gellio l. 20. c. 4. Barthius Animadversionum ad Papinium Statium Thebaid. l. 6. p. 469. Vide quae supra diximus, in Saltare canticum. Ita Salticae puellae, quae saltandi modis instruebantur, in quas graviter nonnullibi Horatius invehitur. Et per contemptum sic appellat puellam Herodiadis, cuius spectaculô fascinatus Herodes Ioanni Baptistae caput dempsit, Tertullianus adv. Gnosticos c. 10. Ipse clausula Legis et Prophetarum, nec Prophetes, sed Angelus dictus, contumeliosd caede truncatur in Puellae lucar.
